About Prow and Sons
The Beginning and Life of Prow and Sons
Prow and Sons was established in 2010 originally being named Blu Helr LLC. When it began it was only Jacob hauling logs for Rodney Smith Trucking. Jacob hauled logs for twelve years. Over the years Jacob worked hard and became successful and was able to purchase his first brand new truck from Idaho Truck in 2017, and purchased his second brand new truck in 2019, and third custom truck in 2021. Jake has always excelled with equipment and trucks as he is a natural, it was not uncommon for the loggers to ask him to load himself. In 2015 he got the opportunity to start running equipment on fires, the first year he spent 38 days on the Selway Complex and Walsenburg Fires. The amount of time that Jake spends fighting fires has only increased over the years with 2021 being a record year, he spent 128 days on fires. His love for equipment and fighting fires only grew. As he started trying to transition out of the logging industry, he tried hauling grain with a belt trailer. That is when he met his wife, Cheyenne. She too was driving her own truck and operating her own business at the time. Together they decided to go into the livestock industry and start hauling cattle. That is when Cheyenne became majority owner and changed the name to Prow and Sons LLC. They thrived in the cattle industry when they were not on fires during the summer. As fuel prices rose Jake and Cheyenne quickly realized hauling cattle was going to get too expensive to make a profit. As Prow and Sons has evolved over the years they have decided to get more into heavy equipment, government contracting, and fighting wildland fires. This is now our specialty and our best quality work.

Our Story
Cheyenne Prow is the majority owner and manager of Prow and Sons LLC. Cheyenne’s work focus is communication, maintaining organized books and files, as well as helping expand into government contracting. Prior to becoming the owner of Prow and Sons, Cheyenne owned and operated another trucking business. She conducted most her business in the commodities industry where her roots lay.
Cheyenne grew up in Touchet, WA on her family farm. She was on her first horse at 6 months old, she became quite the little cowgirl at an early age competing in various events. She also loved doing 4-H and raising pigs for the fair. Softball was another passion growing up, she played in the amateur softball association and played in over sixty-four games during her best year. Cheyenne was always into trucks growing up, when she turned sixteen, she used the money she had earned from selling her pigs at the fair to buy her first manual Dodge pickup. Cheyenne started out working at grain elevators loading trucks, she knew then, she would rather be driving the trucks rather than loading them. Cheyenne graduated high school from Walla Walla Community College and had obtained her Commercial Driver's License before graduation. At 20 years old she got her first truck driving job, hauling grain with double trailers. Cheyenne quickly excelled and made a name for herself in the trucking industry, becoming the first woman to work three different companies driving truck. She then started her own trucking company in 2019 and later merged with Prow and Sons LLC becoming the majority share holder. Cheyenne is now a mother of four children, Anthony, Killian, and the twins, Parker, and Sailor. She is a stay at home and work from home mom. Cheyenne still drives truck when she is needed.
Jacob is also an owner/operator of Prow and Sons LLC. Jacob’s work focus is on heavy equipment, Vipr, and government contracting. His passion is working to be the best at operating all types of equipment but especially, the excavator, bulldozer, forwarder, and skidder. Prior to getting into the heavy equipment industry, Jacob hauled logs for 11 years. Learning everything he knew from “Papa” Rodney Smith.
Jacob grew up in Culver, OR. When he was six years old, he learned how to run his dad’s backhoe in their back yard. He always picked things up fast and quickly excelled. At twelve years old is when he met Papa who owned a log trucking business. Papa put Jacob to work mowing lawns and doing other miscellaneous jobs. When Jacob was sixteen Papa taught him how to drive truck, by eighteen Jacob was trucking full time after graduation. Jacob always knew he wanted to own his own business, because of the advice Papa had given him when he was younger. At age twenty-one Jacob started Prow and Sons LLC formerly known as Blu Helr LLC, though there were some hard years, Jacob became successful and continues to grow and learn every day.
Jacob and Cheyenne met in October of 2019, they both owned their own business’s and were both hauling grain. Upon their meeting, they quickly realized they both shared a lot of the same passions and goals and decided to merge their businesses. Shortly after the merge they began hauling cattle together for the next 2 years. As their relationship grew, they decided to start a family and get married. They now operate Prow and Sons LLC together, combine their knowledge with each individual skill set to provide the best quality services in the heavy equipment industry.
